Georgia Tractor Trailer Crash Kills 1 and Injuries 3

In Atlanta Georgia the authorities have reported that one man was killed and three others were hurt when a tractor trailer truck failed to stop at a red light and crashed into three different cars.
It was reported the truck ran the red light and crashed into the driver’s door of a Toyota Solara killing its driver, and then it swerved and hit a Nissan Altima straight on, then it rolled over onto a Toyota Camry. Three others were injured during the truck accident and were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.  According to the authorities the crash is under investigation.

Eight Students Hospitalized After Bus Accident

In Coweta County GA, eight students riding a bus to Brooks Elementary School in Newnan were taken to the hospital after a bus accident occurred.  A school spokes person reported that the eight students were taken to a local hospital and were being treated for minor injuries.  It was reported that two buses collided, one hitting the read end of the other on the school’s property.  The accident is under investigation.

Man Killed in Forklift Accident

A man was killed Tuesday evening when the forklift he was operating fell on him.  The incident happened just before 7 p.m. at the Owens Corning facility in the 8000 block of McLarin Road, Fulton police spokeswoman Cpl. Kay Lester said.  The forklift operator, a 35-year-old man, was not wearing a seat belt while he was moving products, she said. He fell to the floor when the forklift tilted, then the forklift fell on him and struck him in the head. The man died at the scene.

Train Collides with Truck in Doraville

 A truck an a train were involved in an accident in Doraville on Monday afternoon.
The accident happened on Buford Highway at Amwiler Road. According to Gwinnett County Police, the truck came to a stop on the train tracks around 3:20 p.m. and was hit a short time after the occupants excited the vehicle.  Police say the occupants of the truck were able to get out of the vehicle without assistance.

Georgia Man Trying to Help Has Legs Severed by Train

A man attempting to help a minivan get off train tracks was instead struck by a train, which severed his legs, according to witnesses to the horrific wreck Tuesday afternoon.
Witnesses say the driver of a minivan left Roosevelt Highway, southwest of Atlanta, went past a guardrail and down an embankment before getting stuck on train tracks.  As bystanders tried to help the driver get out of the minivan, a train approached, sending people running, according to witnesses. One of the Good Samaritans tried to walk across the tracks and was struck by the train, severing both of his legs. The train continued and struck the minivan, with the driver still inside, according to witnesses. The minivan’s driver was reportedly alert while rescuers attempted to remove him from the vehicle.  Fulton County police and firefighters were on the scene, working to determine what caused the minivan to leave the roadway.

Motorist Killed in Fiery I-575 Crash

The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday identified a motorist killed in a fiery crash on I-575 last week as a 33-year-old Blue Ridge man.
Joseph Guy Cooper was the driver of a blue 2002 Ford Expedition early Friday morning that plunged off an overpass, crashed into a bridge retaining wall on the roadway below and burst into flames, authorities said. The wreck happened at the I-575 Bridge over Hawkins Store Road in Kennesaw.  Cobb police spokesman Michael Bowman said information from the scene indicated the driver, heading southbound on the interstate, failed to maintain the lane and traveled through the grass median, then over the edge of the overpass. Cooper was pronounced dead at the scene.

Atlanta Police Officer Charged in Fatal Accident Fired

Fulton County GA – An Atlanta police officer involved in a fatal accident has been fired.
Police say Officer Joshua Sieck was responding to a call on Saturday when he hit Jacqueline Culp‘s car. Culp died on Monday from injuries suffered in the crash.  Sieck’s termination came the same day that Culp was laid to rest.  The officer is now facing charges of misdemeanor vehicular homicide.

Atlanta Police Officer Charged in Accident That Killed Woman

An Atlanta police officer has been charged with second degree vehicular homicide after a woman died in a traffic accident.
Officer Joshua Sieck was running an emergency call when the crash happened just before 5 p.m. on July 21, according to Fulton County Police Department who is investigating the crash.  Investigators said Sieck was traveling westbound on Cascade Road and collided with a BMW 740i sedan traveling southbound on Fairburn Road.  Jacqueline Culp, a passenger in the BMW, died at Atlanta Medical Center.  The Atlanta Police Department released this statement:  ”The Atlanta Police Department has been notified of the charges filed against Officer Joshua Sieck. Officer Sieck has been placed on paid administrative leave pending further determination by the Chief of Police regarding his status.  “The Atlanta Police Department continues to send our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Mrs. Jacqueline Culp.”  Sieck’s first court appearance will be September 5 at the South Fulton Magistrate Court.

Car Crashes into Apartment Bedroom in DeKalb County Georgia

No injuries were reported early Wednesday when a car slammed into an apartment building in DeKalb County.
The car crashed through the bedroom wall of a ground-floor unit at the Cambridge Heights complex near Lithonia.  Reports said the woman driving the car claimed her brakes failed, but was later arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
